Stolen private pilot’s license

Posted by Bruce Knight on Aug 12, 2019 11:26 pm

My wallet was stolen today, along with my pilot’s license (ASEL, Instrument). I see I can get a replacement online with the FAA.  Other than that, is there any other tasks I need to do regarding the FAA? I have made a local police report.
Thanks, Bruce

As you noted, you can get a nearly immediate email .pdf document which will temporarily do for your airman and medical certificates.  You will still need to apply for replacement airman and medical certificates which will take some weeks to arrive.  When you report your airman certificate as "lost" on your request for a replacement, you will have done all you need, and they won't need a copy of the police report or anything like that.

For those unfamiliar, if you're u need that immediate emergency document, go to https://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/airmen_certification/airmen_services/ and follow the trail for "temporary authority".
