Aircraft Flight Manual Serial Number

Is there a requirement for Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM) to have the aircraft serial number?  I do not find such requirements in FAR 21, 23 or AC60-6B.  I think an aircraft specific AFM with serial number is required.  Most have a signature.  After 1979 all Type certificated aircraft require an AFM.

Yes, a required AFM must be specific to the aircraft by s/n.  The regulations say the manufacturer must furnish an "approved" flight manual with "each airplane".  That manual will be s/n-specific when it leaves the factory or the airworthiness certificate won't be signed.  Altering that manual or substituting another provided by any other source isn't consistent with that regulation.  This is explained in the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge:

Manufacturers are required to include the serial number and registration on the title page to identify the aircraft to which the manual belongs. If a manual does not indicate a specific aircraft registration and serial number, it is limited to general study purposes only.

Such a "general study" book is called an Information Manual, not an AFM, and does not meet the regulatory requirement for airworthiness in 14 CFR 91.9.
